About the Course

Royal Norwich Golf Club

Royal Norwich Golf Club was established in 1893 and relocated to its current home at Weston Longville in 2021 — a new course designed in the spirit of James Braid's classic heathland layouts, set among mature pines and heather in the heart of Norfolk. The club carries the Royal prefix granted in 1893 and maintains the traditions and standards of one of Norfolk's most distinguished golf clubs.

The course plays to 6,603 yards from the championship tees and is characterised by the heathland terrain, the mature pine and heather setting, and the strategic design that rewards accurate driving and intelligent course management. The natural beauty of the setting — the pines, the heather, the open skies of Norfolk — creates a golf experience of great quality and character.

Royal Norwich provides an excellent inland contrast to the coastal links of Brancaster, Hunstanton, and Cromer within the East Collection programme. The combination of the heathland golf, the historic club atmosphere, and the central Norfolk location makes it an ideal addition to any East Anglian golf itinerary.

The Course

Why It Stands Out

I

Heathland Contrast

Royal Norwich provides an excellent inland contrast to the coastal links of the North Norfolk circuit. The heathland terrain, mature pines, and heather create a golf experience of great quality and character that complements the links golf of Brancaster, Hunstanton, and Cromer.

II

James Braid Heritage

The course is designed in the spirit of James Braid's classic heathland layouts — one of the most respected golf architects of the early 20th century. His signature style of strategic bunkering, natural terrain integration, and heathland routing creates a golf experience of great quality.

III

Royal Distinction

Royal Norwich carries the Royal prefix granted in 1893 — one of only a small number of golf clubs in England to hold this distinction. The club's historic pedigree and traditions create a golf experience of genuine historical significance.

IV

Central Norfolk Location

Royal Norwich sits in the heart of Norfolk — an ideal base for exploring the full range of East Anglian golf. The coastal links of Brancaster, Hunstanton, and Cromer are all within easy reach, making it a natural hub for a multi-day Norfolk golf programme.
