Sandwich Bay, Kent, England
Three outstanding links courses on the Sandwich Bay shoreline — Prince's Golf Club offers a breadth and variety of links golf that is unique on the Kent coast, with 27 holes of exceptional quality set among the dunes.
About the Course
Prince's Golf Club was founded in 1906 and has hosted The Open Championship once — in 1932, when Gene Sarazen won the Claret Jug. The club is set on Sandwich Bay, adjacent to Royal St George's, and has 27 holes arranged in three loops of nine: the Himalayas, the Shore, and the Dunes.
The course was largely destroyed during the Second World War, when it was used as a military training ground. It was rebuilt after the war by Sir Guy Campbell and John Morrison, and the current layout is a fine example of post-war links design — open, challenging, and with the constant presence of the sea and the wind.
Prince's is more accessible than its neighbours Royal St George's and Royal Cinque Ports, and it offers a quality of links golf that is genuinely outstanding. The three nine-hole loops can be combined in different ways to create an 18-hole round of real variety and interest, and the course is consistently well-maintained.

The Course
Prince's hosted The Open Championship in 1932, when Gene Sarazen won the Claret Jug with a then-record score. The course has not hosted The Open since, but its quality and character are undiminished, and it remains one of the finest links experiences on the Kent coast.
Prince's has 27 holes arranged in three nine-hole loops — the Himalayas, the Shore, and the Dunes — which can be combined in different ways to create an 18-hole round of real variety. This flexibility makes it an ideal addition to a Kent links programme, offering a different experience from the more traditional 18-hole layouts of its neighbours.
Prince's sits immediately adjacent to Royal St George's on Sandwich Bay, sharing the same stretch of linksland. Playing both courses in a single visit — or on successive days — is one of the great experiences in English links golf, offering a fascinating contrast between two very different approaches to the same terrain.
Unlike its exclusive neighbours, Prince's is more accessible to visiting golfers and offers a quality of links experience that is genuinely outstanding. For groups seeking a full Kent links programme, Prince's provides the ideal complement to Royal St George's and Royal Cinque Ports.
