About the Course

Les Bordes – New Course

Les Bordes New Course was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw — one of the most celebrated golf architecture partnerships of the modern era — and opened in 2022. It represents a bold contemporary counterpart to the Old Course, bringing a links-inspired design philosophy to the Loire Valley estate and offering a dramatically different but equally compelling golf experience.

The course plays to 6,850 yards from the championship tees and is characterised by the open, links-inspired fairways, the natural terrain undulations, and Coore & Crenshaw's masterful routing across the estate. The design creates a series of visually dramatic and strategically demanding holes that reward creativity and course management — a very different challenge from the water-laden drama of the Old Course.

The New Course has been widely acclaimed since its opening, with many critics placing it among the finest new courses built in Europe in recent years. Together with the Old Course, it creates one of the most complete golf experiences in continental Europe — two world-class courses of very different character on the same extraordinary estate.

Why It Stands Out

I

Coore & Crenshaw Design

The New Course was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw — one of the most celebrated golf architecture partnerships of the modern era, responsible for Cabot Cliffs, Sand Hills, and many of the world's finest modern courses. Their links-inspired design at Les Bordes is considered one of their finest European works.

II

Links-Inspired Character

The New Course brings a links-inspired design philosophy to the Loire Valley estate — a bold contrast to the water-laden drama of the Old Course. The open fairways, natural terrain undulations, and wind-exposed routing create a golf experience of great variety and strategic depth.

III

Two-Course Estate

Together with the Old Course, the New Course creates one of the most complete golf experiences in continental Europe — two world-class courses of very different character on the same extraordinary estate. Playing both courses in a single stay is one of the most compelling golf experiences available anywhere in France.

IV

Modern Masterpiece

The New Course has been widely acclaimed since its opening in 2022, with many critics placing it among the finest new courses built in Europe in recent years. Its combination of Coore & Crenshaw's masterful design, the Loire Valley setting, and the estate infrastructure creates a golf experience of the highest contemporary standard.
