Barrow, County Kerry, Ireland
Arnold Palmer's only European design — Tralee is a links of raw, elemental beauty on the Barrow Peninsula, where the Atlantic crashes against the cliffs below and the views across Tralee Bay rank among the most spectacular in Irish golf.
About the Course
Tralee Golf Club was founded in 1896, but the current course on the Barrow Peninsula was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in 1984 — his only design in Europe. Palmer worked with the dramatic natural terrain of the Kerry coast to create a layout of extraordinary visual drama and genuine links challenge.
The course occupies a spectacular piece of land on the Barrow Peninsula, with the Atlantic Ocean on three sides and views across Tralee Bay to the mountains of Kerry. The front nine runs through classic links terrain of dunes and natural rough, while the back nine moves onto the clifftops above the Atlantic — a sequence of holes that is among the most dramatic in Irish golf.
Palmer famously said that God must have designed the front nine and he designed the back nine — a self-deprecating acknowledgement of the extraordinary natural terrain he was working with. The course has a raw, elemental quality that is increasingly rare in modern golf design.

The Course
Tralee is the only golf course in Europe designed by Arnold Palmer — a distinction that gives it a unique place in the history of the game. Palmer worked with the extraordinary natural terrain of the Kerry coast to create a layout that is both visually spectacular and strategically demanding.
The back nine at Tralee runs along the Atlantic clifftops in a sequence of holes that offers views across Tralee Bay and the Kerry mountains. Palmer famously said that God designed the front nine and he designed the back — a self-deprecating acknowledgement of the extraordinary natural terrain he was working with.
Tralee occupies a dramatic piece of land on the Barrow Peninsula, with the Atlantic Ocean on three sides and views across Tralee Bay to the mountains of Kerry. The sense of remoteness and natural grandeur is unlike anything else on the southwest links circuit.
Tralee has a raw, elemental quality that is increasingly rare in modern golf design. The course uses the natural terrain — cliffs, dunes, and ground shaped by centuries of Atlantic wind — with a directness and confidence that produces holes of genuine character and challenge.
