About the Course

Verdura West Course

The Verdura West Course was designed by Kyle Phillips and opened in 2009 alongside the East Course as the second championship layout of the Verdura Resort. Where the East Course is defined by its coastal drama, the West Course offers a distinct inland character — a routing of great strategic variety that rewards intelligent course management and precise ball-striking.

The West Course plays to 6,950 yards from the championship tees and is characterised by its use of the natural Sicilian terrain — the undulating ground, the mature vegetation, and the varied topography of the estate's inland sections. Phillips created a layout that complements the East Course perfectly, offering a different set of challenges and a different visual character while maintaining the same exceptional standard of design.

Together, the East and West courses form the championship core of the Verdura golf programme — a rotation that provides variety, challenge, and a complete resort golf experience within the same 230-hectare estate. The West Course is the strategic heart of the collection, rewarding those who take the time to understand its subtleties.

The Course

Why It Stands Out

I

Strategic Inland Character

The West Course offers a distinct inland character that complements the coastal drama of the East Course perfectly. Its routing demands precision and course management — a layout that rewards intelligent play and reveals its subtleties over multiple rounds.

II

Kyle Phillips Design Intelligence

Kyle Phillips brought the same design intelligence to the West Course that defines his finest work. The routing uses the natural Sicilian terrain to create a series of varied and demanding holes — each with its own character and strategic challenge.

III

Championship Rotation Partner

The West Course is designed to be played in rotation with the East Course — the two layouts together forming a complete championship programme within the same estate. The contrast between the coastal East and the strategic West is one of the defining pleasures of the Verdura collection.

IV

Estate Integration

Like the East Course, the West Course is fully integrated within the Verdura Resort estate — the same exceptional conditioning, the same Rocco Forte service standards, and the same seamless resort experience that defines the collection.
